Request for Application Materials

See the section on Admission Requirements for Applied Mathematical and Computational Sciences (AMCS) deadlines and other information.  To apply to the AMCS program, which is in the Graduate College at the University of Iowa, go to the Graduate College admissions web page, here you can apply online, download a printable application, or request an application via U.S. mail. You can also download the complete application material here.

Financial support can be requested by completing the Application for Graduate Awards available in printable form here. In order to help us evaluate the courses that you have taken, complete the form Information on Coursework, which is available here. Applicants should request that three letters of recommendation be sent to the AMCS program at the address below. The form for letters of recommendation is available here. Note that the application package sent by U.S. Mail includes the Application form, the Application for Graduate Awards form, the Information on Coursework form, and three copies of the Letter of Recommendation form.  If you have questions about the application process, please feel free to contact the AMCS Director.

CHECKLIST for applying to the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Applied Mathematical and Computational Sciences.

1. Complete the application form of the Graduate College (If mailed, send the Original to Admissions and the yellow Copy to AMCS.)
2. Official Transcripts/Records are required by both the Office of Admissions and AMCS, so send official copies to both.
3. Official GRE and TOEFL scores are required. The Office of Admissions forwards the GRE and TOEFL scores to AMCS when they receive them.
4. Complete the Application for Financial Awards form and send it to AMCS.
5. Complete the Information on Courses form and send it to AMCS.
6. Ask three present or former professors who can recommend you for AMCS graduate study to complete the Letter of Recommendation forms. They should send these Letters of Recommendation directly to AMCS.
7. Personal Statement.
