Former AMCS Director Herb Hethcote has made an extremely generous donation of $50,000 to the AMCS Program: "The Hethcote AMCS Fellowship Fund will be used to provide one or more annual awards to deserving graduate students enrolled in the University of Iowa Graduate College’s Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Applied Mathematical and Computational Sciences (AMCS) who demonstrate merit and are in good academic standing. This fund is to be administered by the Director of AMCS and is to be used for the support of activities of AMCS graduate students such as travel to present their work at professional meetings and other academic activities."

It is quite remarkable in this current time of coronavirus epidemic to notice that Herb's 2000 SIAM Review paper "The Mathematics of Infectious Diseases" has way over 4500 citations!

Thank you Herb!
